The Commonwealth is organizing a training day in cycle tourism with European funding, aimed at tourism businesses in Islantilla, Isla Cristina and Lepe.

Hoteliers, restaurateurs, and managers of service and complementary offering companies will participate in this training activity at CEFO.

The CEFO Training Center in Islantilla hosted a training day this morning on cycle tourism, aimed at local tourism businesses. The goal was to strengthen the bond between the area and its businesses, preparing them to attract and retain a sustainable, active, and growing tourism profile: cycle tourism. Furthermore, this initiative seeks to reinforce the destination's commitment to sustainability, the professionalization of the sector, and the continuous improvement of the local tourism offerings.

With the participation of twenty-two companies from the Islantilla, Isla Cristina, and Lepe area, this training initiative is part of the Cycle Tourism Familiarization Program included in the Cycling Promotion Project, which is itself part of the Islantilla Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, 'Between Green and Blue'. This plan falls within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan and is funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU Funds, representing an investment of €2,589,440 channeled through the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism and the Andalusian Regional Government's Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport.

The Executive Vice President of the entity and First Deputy Mayor of Isla Cristina, Francisco Zamudio, has welcomed "initiatives like this that allow us to prepare our business community to establish new strategies to consolidate the presence of a segment as loyal and consistent with our destination as cycle tourism, since those who practice it tend to value quality and sustainability, which are distinctive signs of our brand.".

For her part, the Deputy Mayor of Lepe City Council, Mariana Otero, delegated to the Commonwealth, recalled "the enormous effort made by our destination to specialize in cycle tourism, through the creation of an interesting offer of routes, the installation of facilities aimed at those who practice this sport, the construction of bike lanes, attendance at specialized fairs or the promotion through our sports program.".

Finally, the Sports Officer of the Islantilla Commonwealth, Juan José Aguilera, announced that "today's event is the prelude to other actions such as the organization of a familiarization trip for tour operators, specialized journalists and businesspeople that will take place between April 13 and 17.".

The training day on cycle tourism held this morning was attended by representatives of seven hospitality companies, seven hotels, three shops and five service companies, as well as technicians from the local and intermunicipal Public Administration.

They have all received specific training on the profile of the tourist belonging to this segment of cycle tourism, and have participated in a forum for the exchange of ideas to learn about different perspectives on these initiatives that Islantilla has been working on in recent years.
