This face of the moon,
Juan Marse
Juan Marsé was a writer in love with cinema and Luis Ciges was an actor in love with literature. But these two lovers of art were also friends. That is why in the Luis Ciges Library we find some of the emblematic works of the novelist such as Si te dicen que caí, La muchacha de las pantalones de oro or El embrujo de Shanghai, among others. Through his works Marsé constructs a portrait of post-war Barcelona, cultivating a peculiar narrative in which he mixes social denunciation with a good dose of irony. Although the first titles, among which is Esta cara de la luna, are still indebted to the realist style typical of the previous narrative, Marsé soon revealed himself as a bold writer, carrying out an authentic formal renovation of the novel. Throughout his career he won countless awards, among which we can highlight the Planeta Prize, the National Critics' Prize and the Cervantes Prize, the highest award in Spanish literature.
