It is one of the actions included within Axis 1 'Green Transition' that the Commonwealth is developing through its Tourism Sustainability Plan 'Between Green and Blue'\u2018<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Islantilla Commonwealth has invested 138,000 euros from the NextGenerationEu Funds to carry out a process of adapting its green areas to climate change by implementing an advanced remote irrigation management system and introducing ground cover vegetation with the ability to maintain substrate moisture for longer, thus improving the resilience of its gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This action, which has an execution period of four months, is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination 'Between Green and Blue', integrated in turn into the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by the European Union, and which represents a total investment of 2,589,440 euros in the area of Islantilla, Lepe and Isla Cristina channeled through the Ministry of Industry and Tourism of the Government of Spain and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Executive Vice President of the Islantilla Commonwealth and First Deputy Mayor of Islantilla, Francisco Zamudio, \u201cwe are facing a unique opportunity to optimize our valuable water resources by revolutionizing our irrigation system to minimize leaks and unnecessary consumption, adapting our gardens to the new climatic reality that demands technologically advanced and rationally considered solutions.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, the Deputy Mayor delegated by the Lepe City Council to the Commonwealth, Mariana Otero, highlighted \u201cthe importance of this action for the Islantilla area as it represents a great step forward in the maintenance of one of the enclaves with the most green areas on the entire Huelva coast, with such outstanding green spaces as 'El Camale\u00f3n' Park or the Cabezos Park, both recognized with Blue Trail, as well as wide landscaped avenues that make our destination a paradise for nature lovers.\u2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company carrying out this action is Act\u00faa, belonging to the Hozono Global Group and responsible for managing the maintenance of the green areas of this coastal enclave since 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation of this new, more efficient, remotely operated irrigation system, as well as the shrub improvement, will also entail the renewal of the irrigation pipe network in the public gardens of the lower Islantilla area and planting, monitoring and maintenance work on the plantings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional species, such as the tipuana tree and the Seville rose, which lend a distinctive character to the boulevards of this tourist area, will be complemented by other shrub varieties, including St. John's thyme and the plants known as "bella alfombra" (beautiful carpet) and "carpeta de plata" (silver carpet). This new vegetation, which will increase CO2 absorption, will be planted along the Levante, La Redondela, El Terr\u00f3n, and Poniente promenades, as well as at the intersection roundabouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although less visible, the most significant aspect of this flowerbed renovation plan will be the implementation of an automated irrigation system that will save water and prevent water loss. This technology, which operates using radio frequency, includes controllers, signal repeaters, drip emitters, rain sensors, sustainable drainage elements, and an open-source management app. The remotely controlled irrigation system will be installed in 75 areas located along Avenida de R\u00edo Fr\u00edo and the promenades of R\u00eda Carreras, Levante, La Redondela, Lepe, R\u00edo Piedras, Terr\u00f3n, Isla Cristina, and Poniente, as well as at the intersection roundabouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the hiring of Act\u00faa, Islantilla renewed its gardening service aspiring to a more sustainable and efficient model, with a commitment to a more respectful environmental intervention that guarantees the conservation of its green spaces and improves the quality of life of its residents, visitors and tourists.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
